Shipwreck Stew Recipe

Shipwreck Stew

My mother made this each time we went camping. As kids, we loved it. It’s tasty and filling and so easy to prepare. I serve with it, buttered french bread or rolls and also fresh watermelon or cantaloupe. My children and grandkids look forward to this each and every camping trip!

Use a 2-qt heavy cooking pot.

Ingredients:
¾ c. chopped onion
1 lb. ground hamburger
1 can kidney beans
1 can tomato soup
1 can vegetable soup
Salt and pepper to taste.

Brown onion and ground hamburger in cooking pot, stirring occasionally, until meat is browned and onion tender. Add the kidney beans, tomato soup, and vegetable soup. Add salt and pepper.  Simmer for about 20 minutes. Enjoy!

I usually need larger amounts, so I increase the onion to 1 ¼ c., 2 cans each of tomato and vegatable soup.  I keep the ground hamburger and the kidney beans the same amount.
